6 Design Trends For Summer 2015

Color Trend Blue

2015 has been an exciting year for design so far! Discover some of the most popular trends happening right now and the ways you can incorporate these looks into your home.

blue with vibrant hues

Vibrant Pops of Color:  This year’s trend is using blue in a home office space, as it is the color of technology.  Hues of blue are considered influential, and work well in a space when paired with metallic accessories or accents. Vivid and saturated colors pair well with this look, including turquoise, orange, citron, and teal.

gray with pops of colorTried and True Neutrals
:  Black is a tried and true color that works in a number of schemes, and pairs perfectly with white to add a graphic touch to any space. For a chic, modern look, incorporate black ceramic lamps or black, lacquered cabinets
into virtually any color scheme. Shiny, black accessories pair best with vibrant shades of red, yellow, purple, or blue.

Like black, gray remains an excellent accessorizing color in a room of primary colors. Gray furniture can be spiced up with brightly colored pillows in shades of tangerine or daffodil. Wood furniture can be stained, washed, or sand blasted to create a uniquely fresh shade of gray. Metallic shades in gold or silver can add the perfect finishing touch to any room design, whether it’s a tropical beach escape or a luxurious mountain cabin.

metal accessories

Textured Metallic Finishes:  Some of the most popular finishes this year include smooth wrought iron and textured bronze.

Hammered metallic designs are also becoming more common in casual decor, while nickel and gold leaf finishes add an element of elegance to a space. Incorporate metallic finishes into a space with flat, wood furnishings to create an industrial design scheme.

recycled woods

Recycled Materials:  Repurposing has become a very popular trend in the design community, whether it’s wood, concrete, stone, fur, or bone. Reclaimed wood is by far the most popular medium when it comes to design, and has become very popular among homeowners who want to bring the allure of nature into their interior design. Each piece of aged wood is unique and has its own sense of character, and can add personality to any design space.

small tables

Small Tables: These work in a variety of spaces and can be used for a number of purposes. This trend works well with floor lamps, another trend that is making a comeback in this year’s design market. Incorporate small tables throughout your living room design, making it the perfect place for entertaining. You can often find small nesting tables that make storage simple.

social cabinets

Social Cabinets:  If you’re looking for storage that’s not too bulky, social cabinets are becoming a popular trend. Perfect for storing wine, glasses, and other small accessories in your kitchen or living room, social cabinets are small enough to tuck into a corner and can be found in nearly every shape, size, and design.
