Get That Red Carpet Feeling From Your Wallcovering

Red

What would Oscar night be without the red carpet? The fashion on display is unparallelled. This year’s hand-crafted styles highlighted the capturing of light across different surfaces. But did you know that these techniques can translate to wallcoverings that will put your home in the spot light? York Wallcovering’s design ideas will have you feeling like you’re walking the red carpet in every room in your home. The York, Pennsylvania-based wallcoverings company featured some of these red carpet looks in their latest blog post.

Black

In true black tie tradition, the stars lined the red carpet with brilliant reds, sharp blacks, radiating metallics and stunning whites. Jennifer Lawrence wears red with confidence just as the striking red Townsend wallcovering echos the soft swish of fabric draping her waist. Margot Robbie’s black, cut-out-back gown elegance and whimsy emulates Candice Olson’s Impulse swirls beautifully in black fantasy for walls. Kelly Osbourne’s gold embroidered gown adds an element of romantic allure mirroring Ronald Redding’s The Plaza design. While Candice Olson’s Stardust design with its gleaming Mylar stylized damask is a nod to Lady Gaga’s Art Deco design.

Bling

There’s no better way to stand out on red carpet night than to capture the lights with sparkles and metallics, which are equally at home on designer walls.  Anne Hathaway with this slim metallic Gucci gown is as dynamic as York’s Vogue motif on Mylar from WallpapHer. Angelina Jolie’s gown sparkled with the light of a million beads just like Carey Lind’s Whirl Wind motif with its glitter dust. And Emma Watson, in her sporty Vera Wang, turns heads as she shimmers from all angles as does Ronald Redding’s Mica design.

Nude

Nude is new this year to the Oscar Red Carpet… and it’s making a strong statement when compared to the traditional black and white formal dress code. Not just any nude, but neutral for the stars with layers of dimension and lavish glimmer.  Cate Blancett floats down the red carpet in this Armani dress, the flow of its shimmering petals creates an aura mirroring the dimension of Charma wallcovering. Portia de Rossi in her retro floral halter gown is a perfect match with York’s Toss the Bouquet pattern with its layers of glitter and retro daisy motif.  And Sally Hawkins’ layers of sheer beautiful detail would have been over the top in anything but nude, in the same manner as the Drybrush Damask design with its layers of glitter are perfect for neutrals.

Blue

Blues were also in the spotlight this year with shades of twilight through cobalt to sky. Watch as blues grow in importance across all facets of design in 2014. Amy Adams clearly understands diamonds aren’t he only thing needs cut and color.  Her Gucci gown makes a statement with its stylish lines and deep color as does York’s Primal pattern wallcovering. Lupita Nyong’O captures the crisp, clear sky in her Prada gown which matches the glow of York’s Winterscape design of tiny crystals on a blue background. Finally, Sandra Bullock’s midnight blue gown reflects the light with every shimmering movement as does Just Groove by Ronald Redding deep navy wallcovering with reflective silver highlights.
