Spring is just around the corner, which is a thrilling fact if you’re in the northeastern part of the United States! As an interior designer, warmer weather and spring cleaning inspires me to refresh the look and feel of my home’s interior to match what’s going on outside. With so much design inspiration during this time of year, I wanted to share the many ways the spring season can inspire your home décor.

• Decorate with flowers. During the spring, fresh flowers bloom all around outside. Let the outdoors in by using floral arrangements throughout your home. There are different seasonal options to choose from, so you can embrace a bouquet in every single room if you wanted to. Set the dining room table with a bunch of tulips or roses, or the coffee table in the living room with alliums or lilacs to create a welcoming ambiance.
• Update your window treatments. Spring is the perfect season to ditch old blinds or curtains and spruce up your rooms with fresh window treatments. Let light into your home through the living room by installing new Roman shades or incorporate a set of curtains in a fun color or pattern in your kitchen.
• Use a pastel color palette. Pastel colors shout spring. They’re soft, trendy, and immediately draw your thoughts to warm weather. Accessorize neutral color palettes with pastel accessories like throw pillows, art work, or window treatments. Bright pastels add a fresh touch and are a great way to make a statement in a room without overwhelming the space.
• Garnish your tables with serving ware. For an easy way to incorporate bright color in your kitchen or dining room without the commitment, pick up some fun serving ware to impress your family or guests with. Shop around at local stores or online for sets featured in bright colors or vivid patterns to add a spring touch to your dining decor.
• Incorporate mirrors into your wall layout. Fresh, open floor plans are all the rage in interior decorating. If your home is tight on space, achieve the illusion of an airy space with mirrors! Hang a mirror above your mantel or fireplace to act as a focal point in your dining room or living room.
• Go bold with your bedding.  As the weather gets warmer, ditch the heavy comforter and instead, opt for cool high-thread-count cottons.  No matter what your decorating style is, you’ll find a variety of designs and patterns to play with. For ultimate comfort, line your bed with linen or cotton sheets for those warmer spring nights. Weather-appropriate bedding makes a huge impact on your sleep and can help you wake up feeling refreshed.
